Are you involved with a nonprofit?

June 2, 2008 · 1 Comment

A few months ago I signed on to an organization that works with nonprofits, helping them to find employees, and helping those who wish to work for a nonprofit, find the right fit. Every day I get a long list of job opportunities, and a few volunteer prospects too, in the city of my choice, along the lines of the skills I have to offer.  I love to peruse these offerings and think of what might be my future job.  The organization is Idealist, and today I received this memo, which I want to pass on to any reader:

Here is the story. Posting a job on Idealist usually costs $60 (we are
a nonprofit ourselves, and this small fee keeps us afloat) but
starting today, and through the end of June, all job postings on
Idealist are free for any nonprofit organization.

We are doing this so that any organization can try us at no cost, and
our ultimate goal is to bring you every nonprofit job that’s open
around the country (as well as internships and volunteer
opportunities, which are always free).

And here is where we need your help. If you know anyone who works at a
nonprofit organization, please share this message with them. And if
you have a way to get the word out to friends and colleagues across
the sector - through a mailing list, a blog, or any other way - please
tell them that Idealist is free for the whole month of June.

Lastly, here is a video we produced for this month, that describes why
Idealist is the best place to post a nonprofit job:

Check it out and see what they have to offer.  I think they are a wonderful organization.

Thank you for this note about free jobs month. Idealist is also organizing grad school fairs this summer and fall for do-gooders who are ready to go back to school for things like nonprofit or social enterprise management, public health, social work, education, law, etc. Check it out…www.idealist.org/gradfairs. The first fairs of 08 are coming up June 18 in DC and June 19 in NYC.
