Two kinds of peaches-summer lady and elberta. Fire sweet and fire pearl nectarines. The plums are fortune and satsuma.
There are only two more weeks of summer fruits. Many of the local peaches are done for the season. I’m going to miss these treats. The grapes are beginning to come to market, along with figs. The Valley has a big fig celebration next week in honor of this ancient fruit still grown here.

It’s interesting to see how different everyone’s season is regionally. I am hoping for peaches to start this week or next. And, I have yet to figure out how to properly eat a fig. Seriously. I hope you post something from the fig festival — I’m curious!
I eat figs right out of hand. I love figs, black figs that is. Green figs no. The fig festival will have local restaurants doing different things with them. Stuffed with blue cheese is a favorite with many in this area. Wrapped in bacon is another fav. I just like mine plain. I don’t attend the festival as it’s very crowded, only 9 to noon, and they usually run out of food.
Well, stuffed with blue cheese and wrapped with bacon sound good to me. I have had dates that way and they were fantastic!
