Thanksgiving Eve

We will stay up late tonight, awaiting our children’s arrival. Jen had a staff meeting that didn’t end until 6 pm. Then a three hour drive, or more, depending on the traffic. Jen texted that Highway 101, that runs through the Bay Area, really isn’t too bad tonight.

I have spent much of the day cooking and prepping for tomorrow. I made crostini and bruschetta topping. Cooked black rice for breakfast. Cooked the lentils that will go into an eggplant dish. Made mushroom barley soup. And ran the dishwasher three times today. Also seeded three pomegranates which I will probably juice tomorrow along with cranberries.

Chad’s mother will be bringing squash, and I will roast Brussels sprouts. Terry will make a large pot of mashed potatoes. If we have room for it, there will be vegan, gluten free pumpkin pie for dessert.

We were gone three days earlier in the week to the Bay Area for the auto show. The boys attended that and I took Leeya shoe shopping after she got out of school one afternoon.

Our kitties are glad to have us back home, but they probably won’t be too happy in a few hours when their space is invaded by small children.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my dear readers.
