Have any of you, dear Readers, posted about a business or organization that didn’t meet your expectations and then hear from the company? I just read that more businesses are keeping a check on social media and responding when someone writes a critical blog post.
I just wondered if any of you have had a reaction to a post you have written, whether good or bad? Did the company offer to apologize, or to take care of the issue, or to give you something to help you feel better?
Do you ever wonder how people find your blog? Some of the links that show up on my analytics make me wonder. And then there are the search engine terms that bring up my blog. Those can really surprise me. Like this one that showed up this morning:
professional wear — hoodies
I can only assume that my blog came up because I have two posts about hoodies and that term gets lots of hits. The first post was written while I was still teaching and taking my students on all those fieldtrips. We were going to the GAP distribution center and students were specifically told they could NOT wear hoodies. The second post was written in San Francisco after a walk I had taken while wearing MY hoodie. The hoodie not only kept me warm and dry but helped me fit in on the street.
As for that search term that brought today’s reader: NO, you cannot wear a hoodie as professional dress. You don’t want to look like this when you go into an office building:
Not if you want to be taken seriously.

Happy blogiversary to me. Actually, three years and two weeks. I somehow missed the actual day, November 8, when I posted my first blog piece. Guess I was just busy, living and doing all that I do which I then tell you, dear Reader.
Some bloggers write every day, but I find that too much to manage. Sometimes I will write two posts in one day, but that is rare. After three years I have 636 posts, including this one, on this blog. That’s about 200 a year, probably more in this past year. I like to check on my favorite bloggers every couple of days and find new posts, and I figure you, dear Reader, feel the same so I try to tell you something of what I see from my perch on a fairly regular basis. Let me know if I lag.
So, onto year four. Let’s see where this blogging experiment takes me. So far, I have made many new friends, learned many things, expanded my small world, and had a very good time doing it. I’ve also started tweeting and writing Facebook posts. My life in words.
