Out to lunch

It’s not Ladies Who Lunch today. Our set date for that group is the second Monday of the month. Today’s lunch is with some new friends. This will be our third face to face get-together, although we have been online friends for a few years now. We are local. We are women. We have some background in agriculture and education. We have all had (and have) demanding careers. I am the oldest.

One of the women, a retired nurse, has embraced writing and somewhere along the way she decided the city needed a book festival. Although Fresno, and the San Joaquin Valley as a whole, is known for famous writers, there has never been a book festival. She is working on the first which will take place May 4. I am so excited for her and I am excited to hear more today about the mechanics of this enterprise.

I taught event planning in the Year 3 Marketing class, and my students put on children’s parties, sidewalk chalk competition, dances, Valentine lunches, portfolio days, but nothing like a book festival.

  1. Cool! I look forward to hearing how it all turns out. Should be quite an event.

  2. How exciting to be in on the ground floor of a new event. Hope it goes well.
